Yes I know.

I particulary enjoyed the Neon and the Phosgene, but the Methane was a bit ripe for my tastes.

She also has a wonderful collection of glassware...some of it museum quality.

No I LOVE have a fart better! Not that I do...just makes my eyes weld up with pure joy of laughter!

Hot Damn YOU all are too much fun!🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶musical notes of interests mind you! Oh and yes it is very natural!!!😂😂

My client this morning as well as my family have tried to tell me to start selling my glassware on EBay...not in the mood! And no my kids are not interested in antiques or high end glassware!

So...maybe when I sell my place I will do something? Not sure? More pressing issues in my life. Like laughing with all of you!!

😇😇

If it give you joy...keep it. Surround yourself with things and people that give you joy and never apologize for it. Embrace joy gluttony!

Don't sell your glassware for God's sake!  Everyone told me I was crazy when I had an inlaid parquetry design made up of exotic woods installed in my foyer, said I was wasting my money on fluff.  Fuckem - it makes me happy every day when I walk in the house, something a bank account statement just cannot do.

A thing of beauty is a joy forever.

You two are so precious with your words. I can not lie...I love me an epergne!!! Or possibly a dozen!! Hahaha!!! My glassware possibly intresic value??? Ya maybe?! One thing true...Nobody in Colorado knows a thing about glassware! That much is certain!

Ohhh and I so get Lucy and her books. I have quite a few of those also. The smell of books is incredible. There is something fancy to be able to hold a great novel in your hands. Ya it makes it more personal! I get that! 😀😀

Studies have shown over and over that a dollar spent on experiences gives more and longer lasting happiness than a dollar spent on material goods. So if I sell some stuff, where might I spend those $$$ on an experience that would leave a smile on my face for a long time? 🤔🤔🤔

Funny bunch. Maybe, but not without my smartphone and texting app. And Pornhub. And a car to get to some kitty after. And the ends to pay for it all. And so much for minimalism.

Here's the context I meant. Nothing to do with bush or penis size. lol

I watched another documentary on Netflix regarding how we have become such HUGE over consumers. I have been guilty of that. I guess the context I meant is reducing the amount of stuff that we have, and only having what we need. There was a guy on there, that had everything he owned in 2 duffle bags. He wasn't a bum, he just got tired of all of the crap. There was a family with a little that moved into a 400sf tiny house. I'm not sure I could do that, but have been in the process of reducing stuff to only what I need. The issue for me, and probably many others are family heirlooms and history. Will the next generation even care about that stuff? They probably won't, but I can't dispose of it. I have a friend that has at least 50 tshirts, and wall to wall lined with shelves, decor, collectibles. etc. All of that stuff makes me anxious. We can only wear 7 tshirts in a week if we wear one every day. My philosophy is pick out your 5 favorites, get rid of the rest. Have you noticed how many storage facilities have been built? How the dumps are overflowing? Oh no, a bigger, better newer one came out, I better dispose of my perfectly good one to get the new one. The idea of the show (and these go out and give lectures), is to only keep what you use, and what makes you happy. If we are not so busy trying to acquire more stuff, we can spend more time living life. Maybe I'm becoming an old fuddy duddy.

I completely agree (and I’ve seen that doc). I have downsized completely (2 bed to large studio), have a capsule wardrobe in which I invest in ethically manufactured clothing, and I spend my $$ on experiences (especially travel). Best decision of my life, but to each their own ✨

Huh. I just listened to a podcast on this very topic, and yes, I am de-cluttering and getting rid of a lot of stuff I don't want -- donating a giant pile of clothing that I never wear anymore. Seems to make a lot of sense. It's experiences (you ladies!) that seem to make the most sense when pondering how to spend my money. And that means vacations, etc.  More toys won't make me happy. Affection from my wife would make me happy, but hey, that's not going to happen.

Minimizing.  You can pay me now....or pay me later.

As an aging adult caregiver (kids just out of college, failing parents) I can promise you it is coming.  I have had to move parents out of their homes into assisted living....and then from assisted living into a nursing home, and then into a 6'x3' hole in the ground.  At each step there was a grieving process as they had to give up pieces of their lives that they had accumulated over decades.

I was able to mitigate some of the pain....with a hobby farm with many outbuildings, I was able to "tuck" away many things for them.  Things they never needed or saw or used again.  But it was somehow a comfort that they knew where they were.  Sad.  After death, some items with fond memories attached were given to kids and grandkids.....but most just ended up in the local landfill.

Things don't matter, people.  How you live your life, and treat the people around you is what matters.

"Time it was, and what a time was, it was....

a time of innocence,

a time of confidences.

Long ago it must be, I have a photograph.

Preserve your memories,

they're all that's left you."

Bookends.  Simon & Garfunkel

Great Song!!!  Honestly I love all their music.

I also feel your pain. My dad is in a nursing home. My mom just got out of rehab for a broken pelvis. Just a very bitter sweet thoughts of becoming the "Elder".

I am also with Audrey in hopes that Badboy is not headed down the divorce road because that would be a very rough way to end the year.

Trying not to call it "gluttony" however some might refer to it as being and yes chances are i am in need of purging? I did donated a couple bags of clothing today after cleaning out my closet and drawers. I found my winter coat in clearing out some clutter too! I don't have much that fits me. Which is kind of awesome to me! I will keep my coat tho!  Admiral...just wondering why I have such a hard time giving up my stuff? Nothing really exciting except it is just my stuff, junk, garbage.

I hate to downplay this to personal preference, but it's so true. The best example I have encountered recently came from family china. I was given a set of China that has been in my family for years. I am a single man and can't ever see me displaying China. I prefer to use paper plates rather than do dishes. I gave them to another family member and their surprise and joy at the gift was actually moving. They say one person's trash is another's treasure. I love the minimalist lifestyle. I have comfy shoes, work shoes, going out shoes, and workout shoes. I do collect nerdy things though and have a stupid amount of things that seem stupid to many, but make me happy and satiate my OCD at the same time. Just as we are all different, we have to find out what is or isn't excessive. Just my late night two cents.

I will probably never be a minimalist unless I move to a beautiful, serene island or travel the world. The island would be with exotic people, food, and culture. I would build my own fruit stand and rummage the land for the best fruits. I would love to only own what's in my backpack and on my body. Traveling to distant lands, learning new languages and recipes. Meeting all sorts of fun, nice people. Having amazing sex with men and women all over the globe.. One day... To live simple and free is the dream.

However, I would still own properties in the US; because like feeling safe and secure.

There are many reasons people keep things....fear of "not having"....OCD hoarding.....etc. However, these are not your reasons. Familiar things make you happy and bring you comfort. They attach to happy memories and feelings. They are positive continuities in a world that changes rapidly. The longer we own things, the more of our energy attaches to them. We do give away a small part of ourselves with those objects. I would surmise that your connection with your regular clients is also quite strong. In short, it tracks with who you are.

I think you are a very enlighten individual Admiral! Very sweet of you to say. Thank you! ❤❤

Not sure who would appreciate my glassware other than myself. Generations are dying off and people are changing trends. Less has become more for most. For many a cellphone is enough.
