( Almost) Lonely loner

11 posts in this topic

So...I've been her almost 6 months now and while Im still Loving the comfort of aninimity while working far away from home I've got to say I spend A LOT of time I mean HEAPS AND HEAPS of time alone. Usually this is just fine . But sometimes, occasionally, once in a while I'd like to share a meal or a movie or a show or a freaking conversation with someone not about ...my job. Where are some places in Denver that one could meet...Open minded..cool ass people? I don't drink but if it must be a bar one wih shit to do other than drink..?

See!! my social skills are dwindling..I used to be very articularticulate. 😞

Find a hobby! There's a whole lot of meet up groups around here, for any hobby you could possibly imagine... Go to some hot springs, people are always friendly there ;) Even going and just sitting at the bar for dinner will put you in a situation where you will most likely talk to someone :)

If you like music, find an open mic night at a local bar. There are a lot of them. Just Google up "open mic Denver" and you'll see. You can listen to some good music and have a drink or two. It's quite casual and there's usually no cover (or it's very cheap). I've discovered some wonderful artists this way.

Humm, well I am motivated to meet new people and get out there after a long relationship that ended so I have tried meetup.com.  Not bad, I have joined a few social ones and running ones and it works well.  Essentially, it caters to folks with similar interests hanging out, a lot are new transplants without a lot of contacts.

Oh yea, Washington Park seems like the epi-center of professionals hang out- Volleyball (!), running/walking, hanging out etc. or just read a book or have a picnic.
