Texted a date request to the wrong number...

True story here.

I often like to post Craigslist Ads or chase down gems on Backpage.  Today I found a gem on eroticmonkey and was even able to find a second review and it seemed worth TOFTT.  I sent a text that went something like this:

"Hello!  I would love to spend an hour with you!  I found your profile/ad on eroticmonkey, but I'm a reviewer on www.tobreviews.com which is a local Colorado board.  Maybe I can put up your first review?"

The person responded with "200/hr im available at 3."  I said yes, and they sent an address.

BUT THEN...I realized...the area code I used is WRONG!  It should be (970) but I texted (720) lmao.  Yep, oooooops.  But now...im curious...the person seemed down with it and even set an appointment, LMAO.  WTF?

Have you googled the number? This should be interesting and you might have more fun than the one you were trying to contact.

Go for it!!

Lol EXACTLY just one of the reasons I do not allow text if we have never met.

Google the number you actually texted and see where it leads :)

Well, I guess it was all "much ado about nothing."  Frankly, the person never texted again, called, etc.  Just silence.  No meeting ever happened.

Did you google the number? Try to follow up? Call? Attempt to make a legit appointment?

I'd post a NCNS review. - Include the phone #

Why? He texted the wrong number. He doesn't even know who it is. The OP texted a rando, got a rate a time and an address. What else did he want? I don't see that as a no show unless he was the one that didn't show.

Why give someone a NCNS review when the client is the one that goofed?

So then did you just not show up? You had a rate a time and location.

Time for a coffee or Tea refill.

The random confirmed the date and didn't show up. Post a NCNs for the Random not the one he meant to book with.

Nope that's not what he said happened. He said it didn't materialize after someone gave him a rate a time and location. It sounds like he never confirmed the date or followed through realizing it was the wrong person.

I am sure I will be reading this on FB one morning drinking my coffee with the title "Wrong text pranks". Yes! I read them, they are hilarious.

Okay here's how it went exactly.

So the wrong number replied that they were available at 3pm and sent an address.  I figured out the problem (that I texted a wrong number) and got suspicious of who was on the other now, lmao.  But I texted them again saying:

"I just realized I texted the wrong number.  But you actually seemed on board and interested so if you're interested, let me know and can you send me a pic?"

I never got a reply.

I obviously wouldn't post a NCNS review.  I also don't feel bad that I didn't show up, as this is a really odd situation.  Scenarios in my head ranged from they are a "good person" and after seeing TOB ads realized this was for escorting, and they might have sent my text to the cops.  Another scenario is that someone shady got the text and was going to jump me when I showed up.  Another scenario is a woman who has been cheated on in the past got the text and might be googling my number online and trying to see if I'm on facebook/etc., and blackmail me.  And of course the other scenario of some random woman who thought "hey I'll give this a shot I need 200" was the only GOOD scenario.

Basically, I got spooked/nervous and no showed.

You probably did the smart thing by not showing up but next time you may not want to respond to the wrong number. I have a friend that received a similar text from a guy that was tying to schedule with a provider. My friend strung the guy along for a bit and then forwarded the text messages to LE. I'm not sure if anything came of it but I would say for the ladies and guys if you get a response from a wrong number or a different number then what was used to originally make contact it might be wise to just ignore.

And look at that, I was right. Reading comprehension FTW.

So did you or did you not google the number, which could easily explain the whole thing rather harmlessly if the number pops up as a provider.  Even more harmless if it is someone you had contacted before and she stored your number.  So, I would certainly have googled immediately.  Just sayin'.  Or, perhaps comes up as the number to the local lion's den.

ps: if there was a no show it was you (but who asks for a pic after setting day time and location - most ladies would be jittery over that, I would think)

I did google the number, and didn't find anything of value.  I do a lot of escort phone number researching, so im fairly good at it, and the erroneous number didn't show anything.  It wasn't another provider.

My immediate thought was Enginneer texted a fellow "hobbyist" and was getting trolled. I would have replied in kind, but at least would have closed the loop with a quick explanation. This is just sort of kooky.

But, I am Totally in favor of Laci's replay and would have loved to have it end up with a hot story.
