To schedule or not to schedule?

42 posts in this topic

Hi!  Just  wanted a general opinion about the topic.. is it better to have a set schedule or to leave things open, and see clients per request? Interested to see the opinion from both providers and clients!

Thanks!

Emily :)

I prefer to see a schedule. I always, always pre-book. I never miss and if I have to cancel, you'll get plenty of notice. If I book a 11:00am appt., you can set your clock by me. I'm never ever late...that drives me crazy. I've never used an available now ad. Then again, I need to get a life too lol. :)

I can see the upside for per request: as a provider, don't have to sit around, waiting for appointments, can live a life and schedule clients around it.

Regular schedule, at least I as client know what days and hours are available, and can work my schedule into it.

So, guess I'd probably go with per request as it might allow a little more flexibility around my schedule as well.

My life outside the "hobby" is far too busy and fun to not have a set schedule.

I would recommend setting days/times that you want to schedule and always remember to make time for yourself.:D

I much prefer a schedule, and Id say 99% are appts made in advance.  I prefer it when I know what my plan for the day is when I get up in the morning. If no date is planned, well then now its a personal day.

If its someone Ive seen before and I happen to be available, then I'll see them, but its incredibly rare I have nothing at all to do at any given time.  Even if I only have plans to chill with a book and take my pup to the dog park, whelp, Im busy taking care of me, so no can do. But if its one of those days where Im kinda spinning my gears and so bored Im thinking of cleaning behind the fridge then I'll go for it. Not likely to happen though.

I could not have said it better Nicole.

Thanks all!!  Seems like the general consensus says schedule, but flexibility all around is always good! Best of both worlds, I love it!! :)

Oh how I wish clients would pre book!  How do I make that happen? ;)

Sounds like there are benefits to both :) I used to have a 24 hour requirement to schedule appointments outside my regular hours...

Haha well... when someone contacts me asking me if Im available, I tell them absolutely...heres my availability calendar, let me know when you'd like to arrange time together! And then I include a link to it on my website.  Having a calendar with the dates I am / am not available really helps to visually clarify my schedule, and make it apparent that to see me means planning ahead of time.

Most will book a couple days to a week in advance. The most advanced booking I have ever gotten was 3 months in advance.  Now that was crazy lol and yes, he kept his date! Shocked me even!!!!  But I really only need notice of at least a day ahead.

I prefer to see when a YL is likely to be available so that I can figure a way to make our schedules mesh.

It's uncomfortable to call only to find she's in Cheyenne that week.

I always schedule in advance...I've never been one to just do something on a whim (some would say that is one of my flaws!).  If you have a set schedule but then can be available outside of that schedule with notice that is nice (there is one provider I would like to see but her hours don't work for me, thank goodness there is more than one provider!)  One of the YL's I have seen uses this:  https://acuityscheduling.com - It's so nice, sends reminders, you can reschedule or set a recurring schedule.  Looks like the cost isn't much either.

Thanks and thanks JAG! For scheduling in advance, and for the link to the scheduling calendar ;).  I know for my own business, in regards to screening, advance scheduling is sometimes almost a must!

It helps if you let us know of some kind of schedule when you are available even if you work 7 days a week 9 a.m. - 10 p.m.  I agree with Bit. Nothing more frustrating than trying to set up an appointment on Monday morning only to be told that she does not work on Mondays. Advertise you appreciate clients that prebook. Some providers offer a discount to prebook appointments.

Be nice, post here so we get to know a little about you & your personality, and give excellent service. Eventually you will have plenty of clients. In addition, affordable rates go a long way attracting clients when getting started.

Good Luck!

Thanks Ink!  Slowly but surely I'm getting the hang of this! Seems like patience is definitely a virtue in this business.  I have overall been very very happy since making the switch from BP to TOB and other sites ( I really had no idea they exisisted until BP shut down, a major blessing!) I am really really enjoying the community aspect of TOB more than anything.. Thank you!

Yes, a website really is great. I made mine myself, but with options like Wix out there, its definitely easy to set one up without any html knowledge.

I think its really important to have. While an ad can catch a guys interest, a website can provide all the info he needs and show more of who you are. That can end up being the tipping point for him to make the move to see you.

I always prebook also, so a schedule is helpful....however, that's NOT my advice. I know this may not exactly correlate to your question, but here goes. I think you should work in whatever way makes you happy.  Schedule...no schedule...open.  That's one of the best things about working for yourself....being able to work how and when is most enjoyable for YOU.  We horny gents will adjust accordingly!

Besides, plenty of specialists can take care of that for you if necessary.  It's a good thing to know what you can have done, but no great need to know how to do everything yourself.

I definitely liked the HTML class when I did all my coding correctly...but one forward slash instead of back slash ruined everything for me :P
