So, Backpage escorts etc sections are gone. On the site it says

Press release: Backpage. Com removes Adult content  due to Unconstitutional government censorship...vows to fight first amendment battles.

There's a whole press release on the site. I stunned nobody has mentioned it yet.

Just noticed that myself; certainly didn't seem to be publicized. What's next?

It just happened. I'm pretty shocked.

I'm also pretty concerned that smaller sites like this one are next on the block.

Holy shit (and I don't curse online), this is crazy. I surely hope that another site that is nationwide will take BP's place. In certain locales, that's all that there is/was.

Hopefully the other girls will be notified of this site. And this site would never be targeted by government.

Well we're either headed into the dark ages and street walking, or TOB girls just became A LOT more valuable. This site just became the only game in town. Yeah there's eccie, but that's not a Colorado board.

Do I checked it this morning and it was up, not sure exactly when but it now says "Censored" on all adult links like escorts and body rubs.  They say they were forced to takedow.  Wonder if this will drive traffic to Eccie and here?

If it does I hope we don't get all those fake ads here!

It's probably because the US Supreme Court decided not to hear the case against BP, so the US govt. decided to take an alternate route to shut it down.

Eros perhaps? I too hope the fake ads and BS don't make their way here.

Looks like some are posting in the "women for men" section on BP, as of now anyways.

I think nation wide that's one of the concerns.  That remaining sites will become too powerful. Without BackPage there isn't much competition. We ladies didn't become more valuable the remaining sites did. Those who post on BP are going to have to scramble and they will eventually find this place. Other sites will gain in popularity too even if they're not area specific. Eccie has a CO section and so does TNA and I would imagine that all sites are going to see spikes in traffic.

With what just happened it's wise that providers diversify. If TOB disappeared tomorrow what would we do? It's not to say that it will happen but I never would have thought that this would have happened to BP. I appreciate these sites so much I wouldn't be where I am without them but it's time for some self reliance. I foresee a future of heavy reliance on personal websites and tools like Twitter so I think that will be my focus while also joining every well known ad site across the country just to keep my ass covered.

And speaking of fakes, I don't know what to make of the plethora of ads on TOB recently from new providers with 0 reviews and no other profiles. I've noticed an increase in them in the past month or so and I don't know if they're verified in any way.

I guess we'll have to get used to lots of ads with 👄👄💄💄👣👣💋💋💅💅 in them.  Although ToB probably a smaller target it seems the same logic would apply to shuttering its ads.  Lucy probably has a good idea...diversify.

Here is what I found about it!

http://www.mercurynews.com/2017/01/09/backpage-shutters-u-s-escort-ads-after-senate-report/

I had a feeling this was going to happen, and I had a couple of weeks ago started advertising in different avenues. This is what happens when you don't screen who is advertising, and it is allowing sex trafficking to get out of hand. If TOB, ECCIE,  EROS, and TER are smart...they will still keep screening for legitimate ladies. I am shocked just as everyone is, but I am not unhappy about it.

So its only going to get more difficult to schedule with tob ladies; and tob will get larger, and then become a larger target.

Is TOB based in the U.S.?

 North of the boarder!

Once there is legal precedence, I think they would go after specific violators on twitter and elsewhere.

Time to start collecting verified email addresses...

I think in time we might see that but the biggest difference between BackPage and Twitter is the amount of money they make off violating free speech while "preventing traffiking". No one can argue that BP didn't know they were making money of prostitution, they charged astronomical amounts for adult advertising. Twitter makes money but not by providers paying into it.

Personally I think we should all be unhappy about it. We're lucky that we have a popular local back up. Like Audrey mentioned there are some parts of the country where only backpage was used and not all the remaining options are great. Not to offend the Texas people but eccie is a shit show and TER is even worse. This timing with BP couldn't have come at a worse time,

I haven't actually been screened by many advertising sites. BackPage couldn't screen and didn't have to. They aren't specifically an adult advertising venue. BP allowing sex trafficking to get out of hand is what Kamala Harris wants you to believe but has no stats to prove it. And it's an unfair accusation, any adult site can be easily manipulated by pimps and traffickers. Every site we've used is guilty of what BP has been accused of they were just the largest target.

I know it sounds weird because we like to demonize BP but it was a safe space for sex workers. If anyone watched that TED talk this is the kinda thing that hurts women. Instead of having pimps and traffickers at the surface we've pushed them further underground and in the process we've limited the abilities of the consenting adult sex worker. If this loss ends up being permanent lots of our fellow sex workers will suffer. And we with resources might too.

When I started to hobby, Craigslist was the main site and BP was a little blip on the screen.  When CL went down, then everyone moved to BP.  I don't know which site will have the national presence, but I'm sure one will rise sooner than later.

Yeah and the guys on TOB will value us ladies MORE! Most of us have reviews, we're verified and it's going to take a while for everyone to catch up.

The girls on Backpage who don't know about this site, will either go away or figure it out. I personally feel like this is a huge opportunity to have more business. Which is why we just became more valuable.
