AirBnB vs Motels

44 posts in this topic

Hi there,

I'm new to the area and a little nervous to try a new market.

I've been considering going to the Airbnb route to help clients feel a little more comfy vs motels.   My ONLY concern is I'm afraid that some places might have nanny cams or hidden cams in the main living area.

What is your advice and opinions about Airbnb vs Motels when it comes to visiting a well reviewed provider?

For me neither. Either a private, clean, prefer upscale In, or I host. Gonna have to be either way somebody I totally trust. Reviews are cool, but not necessary. And over 33 yrs old, with exception to one. Never seen her except when I took her to lunch, she's definitely got my attention. Also prefer no drama, that being said I'm a male, therefore stooped as shit.

It's a wash, imo. Hotels have cameras all over the place. Nanny cam would be creepy, but, it all boils down to the lady, she's the one on the hook if owner or hotel staff call her out: odds are I don't have to deal with fallout/being called out since I'll be long gone.

Motel/hotel has always been uncomfortable for me in that hotel might already have an eye on a lady, key access to floors/doors. True, some hotels might turn a blind eye, still...

Then again, I don't visit visiting providers often, I'm interested in locals that if I really enjoy my time with, I want to book again and again and again and...

I have visited providers in their incall or hotels.  A couple of the incalls made me a little nervous and 1 made me a little sad (although the provider was very nice).  The key for me in the hotels was to behave like I was staying there.  I've actually seen on google street view the ability to walk into the lobby which at least gives you an idea of the layout.  That and a tip I read I think on another thread either be looking at your or pretending to talk on your phone.  Maybe carry a backpack or laptop bag.  If the place has meeting spaces adjacent you might be able to go in another entrance.  I just walked through a noisy Christmas buffet once and to the elevators from the back side so I didn't even have see the front desk.  I've never even stayed at airbnb.  I guess if there were cameras in common area (there probably are there are cameras everywhere now) what would be downside?  They wouldn't let you stay there again?  I guess you could get blacklisted by owners but what would they say you have a lot of boyfriends?  Probably better advice from other providers but it's seems the visiting ones stay in higher end hotels.

We have used airbnb when traveling many times and most have had some type on video on camera set up just to protect them and their properties. I would not feel comfortable at all as far as meeting someone for a little play time there at all.

I think there are few ladies here that have used Air BnB for business and hopefully they can offer some insight. I think most guys are OK with hotels and the concern with Air BnB rests more with you as the renter. You don't want to get found out by the person you're renting from or the neighbors or doorman, not that any of that isn't possible at a hotel but it's more likely at a rented privater residence and the consequence could be not fun.

I love the idea of it, Air BnB is so much less expensive and you can find some great properties but using it for business makes me nervous.

I have stayed at AirBnbs a few times, and so far, they were great. I haven't lately because people think their places are more than a hotel, and I am a cheapo. The link that Happyfeller put on is a very good description of what they are about. DO read every location carefully to know exactly what to expect. Also, check out the area and make very clear about how much privacy you will have...sometimes, they don't specify that. I can tell you that if they have a nannycam in their place, I would not stay there. They have your information and they should be trusting you to be a good guest. AirBnB is wonderful in that it allows the guest and the renter to review eachother, and then you each gain credibility.

Hotels can be good, but do your homework on how easy it is to access. Can the guys get in and to the elevator quickly. How many cameras are around? Most hotels have them to protect their property. Also, how likely is it other providers are there? Some hotels are known for being "hot spots". Also, there are areas in Denver that are better hotel areas than others. If you want more info, I have stayed at almost every hotel in this place and can give you more dirt so just PM me.

Good luck and be safe!

xoxo,

Samantha Sheppard

Thanks for the info.   I was curious about the Airbnb issues.   I personally don't feel comfy with it in fear of the risk of a nanny cam.   I haven't made it to Denver yet due to the high winds here in the Springs today.   Seems like damned if I do and damned if I don't.  LOL

Hiya Kaylee,

I don't think Airbnb can legally use any type of cam with it's customers. Without their permission, it's an invasion of privacy. Besides, I don't think they want to be held responsible for a someone's child being spyed on or monitored. Unless the parents say "Yes!" Too many legal issues for them. Have a friend of yours contact them about having little ones with them at a place of your choosing.

yeah, heard about the winds this morning. Stay put for now, huh ?

Off to the VA for pneumonia shot.

Good luck with your shots.

I stayed in a place in NYC (non hobby related) once and they DID have camera's in the common area.

Oh and this wind is insane here.  Boo wind

Kaylee,

The camera's you mentioned in the common area of the hotel/inn ; referring to lobby/restaurant areas? I don't they can have that in a person's room.I say this, because I stay at Tuscany Suites in Vegas. They don't have cams in the guest suite/bedroom. At entrances/hallways or in their gym/pool areas/ entrances into the facility.

Have to schedule the shot !

I don't know why hotels bother people so much.  Of course, I travel a lot on business so hotels are kinda like second homes to me.  I like them, they are usually as clean, and often cleaner than incalls, there is always a shower and towels, and it just seems like a bit of an adventure.  For guys uneasy going in, here is a tip:  I usually bring a small gift (box of chocolate, wine, etc.).  Put it in a FED EX envelope from the kiosk in your office building.  You really look like you are on the way up to discuss business when you have a FED EX envelope under your arm.  I don't know about the rest of you, but I would never knowingly go into an airbnb - just too many risks (neighbors calling police, owner calling police, owner taping us, just to think of a few reasons-I am sure there are more).

Do guys prefer incalls, or hotels?  Guys prefer great blowjobs anywhere they can get them.

If you walk in like you own the place, you can wander the halls of the Waldorf Astoria looking for escorts all day long and never be disturbed by staff. Hotel staff have to walk a delicate line between preserving the niceties and not offending guests. A  broad smile and a "How you doing?" as you brush past them is generally enough to convince the most suspicious of hotel employees that this is a person who actually belongs here, Do Not Mess With.

Do you find it more effective than those funny glasses with the nose and mustache?

I am a good authority on this matter, I've been using ONLY airbnb for several months now, and have had very little friction. Here are the MUSTS:

-Make sure you rent an entire place. If you rent a basement apt, make sure its a walkout basement and not inside the house as the only entrance. Read reviews to find out how much interaction is to be expected with the host. Large apt bldgs are my favorite choice, and units that have the owner out of town are ideal.

-Those of you worried about cams--don't worry too much. They aren't allowed to do that, and if they do...well, they are creepy and won't be willing to rat you out. Learn what to look for in hidden cams and just scan every visible square inch of the room with your eyes. Takes about 10 mins to do correctly but it's helpful. If you think you see something fishy, simply obstruct it somehow.

-Be considerate of your hosts, show up looking like you are NOT a sex beast, keep noise way down, and for fuck sake--DO NOT EVER CONFIDE IN ANYONE WHY YOU'RE THERE AND DO NOT SLEEP WITH YOUR AIRBNB HOST.

Any other questions?

When I work out of town, I only use AirBnb! Lots of guys are turned off by hotels. Especially when you have no reviews on sites of that region... I never tell the client they're meeting me at an AirBnb, I just advertise as "private residential incall"...

The search filters makes finding the perfect AirBnb easy. I always rent an entire house/condo, with a parking spot for clients or ample street parking, WiFi, AC, and washer/dryer in unit.

I've done it in 8 different cities and never had an issue :) I don't think hosts are filming, but if they are, they probably saved the tape of my stay!

Using an air bnb to do your business is beyond disrespectful absolutely no thought at all about future repercussions for the home owner, maybe they have kids and now your clients stalk the place, or the million other liabilities. Hotels were made for this profession, if you're low key they don't care. Issues come up when it's 10 people sharing a room, lots of traffic in & out (which quality girls only have 1-3 a day which is nothing), or you're checking in with the neck tatted gangbanger...  I don't get the anxiety or fear of using them just avoid the dumps. Usually they just have cameras in the main lobby and sometimes hallways but I have'nt seen those in Denver much & that benefits you a crazy person less likely to try something if they know they have been caught on camera entering a place, no such guarantee at an air bnb. I don't expect this to change many minds but I'd be livid and file a criminal complaint if I found out someone was using my home for this and they do have all your info.

You're welcome to harshly judge, but you are definitely seeing my colorful world through a black and white TV set and to condemn me as "beyond disrespectful" is simply not your place.

I don't rent a thing that isn't carefully researched and most of the ones I've used are actually ONLY used for airbnb. To assume I flippantly put children in grave danger is an insult and an attempt to call me a piece of shit in a way that plays on everyones emotions and absolves you of having to own your own attack on someone you don't know AT ALL.  FACT IS, children make me extremely uncomfor table to the point that I can't even look at a child's toy without feeling like I gotta get it away from me. I have never once rented a spot that houses children. Not once. So I'd appreciate you not being rude to me and dressing it up as concern for children. I do have a shred of decency and it's not well received to be called a danger to kids despite my significant effort to avoid kids In every aspect of life.

If you hate what goes on behind closed doors so much that you'd file a criminal report, then do me a favor and do not ever book me because I don't need that kind of judgemental crap from someone who is on a hooker board. Go file your reports and leave our kind alone if you feel so morally superior. And seriously, dont ever hit me up. Oh and also, God hates hypocrites.

Hotels in Denver are not ideal for this. Even if people weren't all uppity about every venue type I've ever tried (and they ARE), even if I didn't get shade from most hotels JUST for being pretty enough to get labeled and put right by the front desk (happens all the fucking time), even if I was okay with letting a business RECORD ALL OF YOU GUYS (I'm not)...hotels are just not good for that around here. But you don't know much about Denver hotels so please, tell me more about why I should "just use hotels" , especially when its suggested by someone who probably walks out of appts for stupid shit like the carpet being imperfect or considers an apartment in Glendale as a shit hole. You don't know what you're talking about , and talking out of your ass for reasons that I do not wish to ask. Tell me where you think is the perfect place is for me to practice my disrespectful behavior and I'll be sure to never do it :)

Lastly, given that all these girls here and I have a proverbial witch hunt on our heels these days, we have no option but to be gypsies because I, for one, am so damn sick of the cops being called on me by every nosy assed busy body I've been so lucky to have in my business for no good reason. I got the police called on me a week ago for having sinusitis and daring to have symptoms come up while in walmart. Yes, someone in walmart called the police and said I "must be on drugs." Which resulted in a sneezing fit being probable cause to SEARCH ME. I am definitely not oblivious to the fact that nobody can mind their own business around here and therefore I must change spots frequently or some dicknose will decide to clean up their community. I wish i were exaggerating but ffs people love to tell on people around here! Airbnb is really my only option, and so call me disrespectful again, only if you can do so without so much disrespect.

Hell, I even leave flowers and a cleaner place than before I was there. My hosts love me and I often I am using a repeated booking.  Just saying...

Topnotch has a point, though maybe not stated well, or PC-like.

You do hear stories on the board and from providers directly re: the brain-dead clients. The ones that show up knocking on the door, looking for an appointment NOW! It's these types that are problematic. Imagine you are an owner, and some random dude shows up late night/early morning asking if "Bambi" is available.

Is this a regular occurrence, probably not. But it is a risk for the owner. And if they rent out the space multiple times to a provider, and she gets busted in the location, MAYBE have to deal with public nuisance case and or promoting (probably would get off, did not know what was really going on, but still a pain, lawyer bills).

I travel a lot and never see the need to stay in hotels anymore with air b&b available! and when traveling I poon a lot!

sure there are cameras in both of these places. but I feel, I hope, I have the privacy within the rental I'm staying. especially the bedroom. and if property owners are secretly taping inside. it becomes an issue of legality. or at least I always read the contract's fine print to see if they sneak that in some where.

if you don't create a disturbance, issues, or see unprofessional ladies (people). it should not be an issue.

I generally see several ladies during my stays when traveling. but I do longer dates. so it's not like a revolving door where I'm staying. and it would seem as though I just date a lot or have more lady friends visiting me.

I guarantee that if you were taped by the owner that they would save the tape!  Probably have already worn it out ;)
