Election Day Anxiety

146 posts in this topic

Underestimate the middle class at your peril. America lives another day. This election has nothing to do with corruption and everything to do with culture. This applies to its obvious misunderstanding of it in this country. I'm glad we still have one.

To say that I'm in total shock and disbelief at the outcome of the election would be an understatement of Biblical Proportions. Where do we go from here? What's in store for our country now?

Just a few of the things rattling around in that cavernous area known as my brain right now...This feels like a wake and I'm in mourning.

And who the F is in charge? IWANNAKNOW!

After the shock wears off, I favor panic.

Well since Democrats lost the House, the Senate and the Presidency we can expect to see Roe vs Wade challenged, we can expect to see an uptick in hate crimes, we can expect to see the immigrants tossed from our country, we can expect the growing refugee problem to only get worse, goodbye to filibustering, hello to our new Axis of Terror with our new best friends Russia and North Korea.  20 million Americans will lose Obamacare, private insurance will go back to raping us.

I can't honestly decide if America is more racist or more misogynistic. I've never seen a woman railroaded like that and I have watched a bunch of nasty porn. Never have I seen a campaign run based purely on dislike for your opponent. Never have I seen modern day women be so hateful towards an intelligent and qualified woman. Never did I think I would see the day that white people felt so challenged by progress. Never have I been so disappointed in %60 of my gender that voted for Trump.

Trump didn't win. Hatred, racism, sexism, xenophobia, bigotry and rape culture won big last night. There is no one and nothing to blame but America's divisive hatred.

Fellow sex workers I hope you're prepared for this. Contingency plans should be dusted off. Business is going to tank and come inauguration day be prepared to have to fight for the right to exist as women.

Thank you Carlos Danger and James Comey for your part in all this...I hope you know what you did. I hope President Obama does the right thing and Fires Comey today!!

This wasn't about race or misogyny.  Those are lazy excuses.  This was a win for those who are tired of the political establishment.

And you are contributing to the divisiveness in America by pointing the finger at "hate".

Go ahead and continue the polarizing speech -- it keeps you from examining what is REALLY wrong with this country.

We have Justices that are literally gonna die on the bench. And I don't really blame Wiener or Huma, as it turns out it was a false flag. All of that frustration should be aimed at Comey.

Alright then. Comey is to blame.

Not racism? Not the racist American Public who rejected Democrat Liberal policies of the last 8 years of President Obama. I guess Van Jones was incorrect last night on CNN.

Or is there enough blame to go around?

Bullshit. And a great example of the new widely accepted white supremacy and wimmen hatin'. It is not polarizing to point out that it's factual that race and gender played into this election season. All the video evidence and all the campaign rallies for Trump are irrefutable proof that race and misogyny were factors. Do you no listen at all the words that spew from the man's mouth? Mexicans are rapists, nasty women, pro stop and frisk, the Brooklyn 5 are still guilty despite DNA evidence, GRAB THEM BY THE PUSSY, a Cosby dozen of accusers are all liars. This is what the "people" heard and these were the reasons they voted for him. So people could openly hate. And good lord he picked a VP who wanted women to have funerals for aborted fetuses.

Tired of the establishment is such bullshit too. Our system works, all the Trump supporters are certainly agreeing that voting works. Funny how quickly all those "rigged election" accusations fell silent. Because the system works. The horrible media that was out to get him got his sorry ass elected. How ignorant can people be to be tired of the establishment but go RED across the line. Talk about more of the same old shit. Make America Great Again pretty much means lets step back in time. When was America great? Pre Civil Rights? Or before women got the right to vote? Or the decades of perpetual war? Civil War? Native American genocide?

It's a sad fucking day when pointing out the reality of the ugly nature of Americans gets fingers pointed at you. It's so fucking telling and people can't even see it.

So did the people speak? Or are you pro Electoral College? Get it right.

You're missing the point. You're the one that wanted to be angry at emails not me. If you want to vent frustration towards that situation then Comey deserves it. That is all I am saying. That was not Huma's problem and don't try to make it her problem or dilute my point because you misunderstand. I was pretty clear that systematic racism and sexism are the issues. But by all means keep balking about emails.

Jesus! And we're on the same side...You're making my head spin. Is it Comey or the racist American voting public. I can't keep up anymore.

Everyone calm down. you act like just because trump mentioned repeatedly some radical ideas that he can wave a magic wand it will happen overnight. Just because the house and Senate are Republican doesn't mean they will agree. Obamacare has been in place to long, it will need to be replaced with something and that will take time. The American people will be watching. Roe v wade isn't going anywhere. Calm down, jeez.

Well said.

I get the feeling that some people would be throwing around the words "racism" and "misogyny" regardless of which republican had been elected.

Sour grapes.

It couldn't possibly be because:

  • They didn't want someone who was "careless" with national security material as POTUS?
  • They didn't want the party that ignores our immigration laws in power?
  • They wanted a change from "business as usual" in the White House?
  • The middle class being tired of getting squeezed, with perks going to the upper & lower class?

No, it has to be for hateful reasons (racism, misogyny, etc.).

The USA was founded as a constitutional republic, not a democracy! The Electoral College is but one element of our representative style of government. It helps protect us from the tyranny of the majority.

Part of today's problems (Federalism & the lack of States' rights) stem from the 17th Amendment, which transformed the Senate, the States' house, to another Peoples' body. States lost their seat at the table.

Relax, you are way over thinking this one. This was a predictable outcome and no matter who was running as republican that person was going to win. This and nothing to do with hatred or racism, just history repeating itself.

A quote from Hillary's speech this morning.

"Donald Trump is going to our next President. We owe him an open mind and the chance to lead."

To those of you who are predicting the future.... Please send me the winning Powerball numbers.

It's not all of a sudden anything other than what it's always been. You know what this country was built off of right? The backs of the black man. Donald trumps continuous disgusting rhetoric about minorities is what makes me have a hard time Understanding how you look past all that if you don't hold those core values as well. But racism doesn't exist right? Give ME a break!  And Jonny I heard what Hillary said. I'm also not predicting anything. I stated my opinion. We're all allowed those right?!  I have as open of a mind as I possibly can about this dick weed. It's up to him to change that.

So serious question, are we just supposed to not believe everything that Trump and Pence campaigned for? We're supposed to just wait and see if they decide to ban Muslims or build a wall? Forget that during the last debate Trump said he would use to Supreme Court to fit his interests? Forget that they threatened Roe vs Wade? These are the things that got him elected and those who opposed the idea aren't supposed to be scared?

Hillary said what she said because she has class and decorum and it was the right thing to say. I gave the man chance after chance and he did nothing but disappoint. So why honestly should I go into this with an open mind? He deserves the same "respect" that the right gave Obama for eight years.

Right on point.  I've said it before, the race card became unplayable when Obama became president.  No country with as much racism as some people claim, would elect a black man president.

Don't you love it when men (especially white men) try to tell you racism doesn't exist? Obama getting elected twice is the new "but I have a black friend!" Only %50 of the country is racist, so you know not that much.
