Exactly. I have used both "hooker" and "john". At first, the hookers complained about "hooker", but the couldn't complain much because it's an accurate term.

I suspect those who are offended by it are ashamed of what they are.

Please tell me how it is accurate to use derogatory slang? Why is it ok to continue to use word that has upset the ladies? Since when is it ok to have absolutely no class?

Not ashamed, when others look in on our community from the outside I would rather we didn't look like a bunch of buffoons who only know how to insult each other. So if hooker is acceptable can I refer to all guys on this board as tricks? There is no use in complaining about it because the only replies that you get are from the jerks that insist that "hooker" is a ok word to use and that I need to stop getting my panties in a twist. It's not just the ladies who are bothered by this word, it's the tricks too.

Not that you really give a shit av8r but those who choose to call us hookers like you do are the same assholes that give the impression to other guys, like the OP, that we are nothing but uneducated, liars and cheaters who are willing to do anything for a buck. You like to smack down every intelligent female response on this board, it seems your only goal is to make posting for the ladies around here impossible.

To help keep this somewhat on track, I think it's unfortunate that the OP had to go elsewhere to see that there were bright, eloquent and dignified women in this business. Denver is pretty big on the escorting map and TOBs (and other related products) online community is one of the largest and most active.

I disagree. Using more "acceptable" words like provider and clients tend to make people think that this is a legal interaction. It is not and hookers and johns makes it more obvious what we are really doing. Has nothing to do with denigration. Those that are offended should think about what they are doing.

Raise your hand if you ever got this confused with a legal transaction? What about making this legal? Should we all write to our local representatives and lawmakers and use those words? Make hookers legal! Is an argument that has worked zero times.

If you can actually show me examples of the word being used in a positive way then maybe I will reconsider my dislike for the word.

And if I may quote you again before I speak:

from Luce:

"Not that you really give a shit av8r but those who choose to call us hookers like you do are the same assholes that give the impression to other guys, like the OP, that we are nothing but uneducated, liars and cheaters who are willing to do anything for a buck. Dear girl, I cannot agree with you more. The total lack of personal ettiquete from a few of these "tricks" is well known and it seems acceptable to the mods. One of whom is from the our very own peanut gallery. And yes, It does seem that many ladies who used to post here no longer do. And honestly, I don't blame them. You and I still write here, because I believe our proverbial skin, and our intellect are strong enough to take this crap. But rudeness abounds and it is obvious that our whoremonger, (I hate that word, but I am using it today) , AV8r obviously thinks he is on a higher level of humanity then we ladies are.

All in all this continual one up man ship every time a woman posts on here is childish and in poor taste from these creatures who are supposed to be men. Now that I have once again lowered myself to their standards to prove my point- I will stop here.

Sorry you are ashamed of your chosen profession. I am not ashamed of being a john. I am also not ashamed of being a trick though that says more about the hooker than the trick.

Hooker is no more derogatory than prostitute or asp or any other term used for the profession you have chosen. If any of those words offend you you have chosen the wrong profession and should look inward rather than outward. All of the words for your profession are looked at equally negatively from those outside this community.

For anyone who cares what my opinion is... it's just a word.

If it bothers you, skip over that word when you see it and make note in your mind that the person who is intent on using it over and over, knowing that it does bother some people, is probably not someone you would want as a friend.

However, I was a Hooker/Ho/Whore for 16 years and none of those words bother me in the least. If it bothers you, I "get it", but the board will not be moderated to soothe your feelings. It's just a word, and I don't consider it to be derogatory either, although I prefer to use the word "provider".

Well put!

When I was raised the word "fuck" was a foul word. We were told that people who used that kind of language were coarse. Now it's a common part of speech.

I must say, I appreciate your opinions bunches Gina. You are consistently the voice of reason and clarity on TOB. Thanks you for your continued insights and dedication. Whenever I see the Oxymoron big boobed moniker, I know there is a substantive viewpoint to be considered.....

thanks

My favorite provider and I had a hooker of bourbon before the session started. :D

And the hooker smashed the ball! (For you rugby fans)

We took the hooker out for some fish off the coast of Galway.

T.J. catches another criminal. (For you Shatner fans)

:D;):D:p:D

Those who haven't should see the movie. The providers came off as strong, independent, professional women. Not the victims or simpletons they are frequently made out to be.

I watched this last night, and it is, overall, an good informational film. I did find it too slanted toward how happy, fulfilled, and positive this career has been for them.

They mentioned the bad things that have happened, but did not cover them as thoroughly as the good. I suspect we all do this when we discuss our jobs.

So, a bit out of balance, but certainly worth watching. :)

Is it possible that their experience was just more positive than it was negative? Maybe the point was to highlight the good so public opinion might change? Not all of us have sob stories, my positive experiences far outweigh the negative and if asked about my story as a provider I see no reason to focus on the negative. There isn't a lot of knowledge to be gained from sharing my negative stories but tons to be gained from my positive experiences and how they have made me the happy fulfilled person I am today.

I can only conclude that

1) you did not watch it or

2) you did, but were not mentally capable of getting the point.

I finally got around to watching it this morning. I just finished it a few moments ago. I absolutely loved it!

I watched Whore's Glory a few months ago...can you say DEPRESSING. I felt like I needed a handful of antidepressants after watching that one.

So I was very happy to watch this film and see women like myself!

It is possible to be in the adult industry and be a happy, healthy person.

Definitely worth watching!

I watched it, and I'll say that it does not hide from the reality that most of the ladies had utterly miserable and dysfunctional childhoods. There would probably be 80% fewer providers (and porn actresses) if we had no broken homes. The bad childhoods are not a surprise.

They also show a few of the dozen or so providers who had completely normal/healthy childhoods. They all turn to the profession for the money (we all work for money, so no big deal there) but a few seem to really embrace it/enjoy it in that liberated kind of way that is somewhat healthy.

The whole compassion angle, which is quite real, is played up. A woman talks about how she has sex with a disabled man and it really improves his life and outlook. I have called these ladies angels of mercy in their willingness to share their bodies (for a fee, yes, but they are sharing it). Another woman talks about how she has essentially kept marriages together because she has satisfied sexual needs when wives simply can't or won't. I can attest first hand that is the absolute truth.

The host/interviewer was severely abused, and she seems to be an advocate for women doing sex work the "right way." One of the ladies points out that violent men can't be "outed" to the police because the prostitutes are often the ones who get in trouble, because they are prostitutes. All in all, it was mostly quite interesting. There were way too many reaction shots from the interviewer, but that's a minor gripe.

Bullshit "documentary" like this one are a dime a dozen, and it's always the same "angle", basically.

Now, spread your legs, girl, and let daddy give you a nice anal fisting.
