1st DENVER Visit! Next Month...

15 posts in this topic

I'm super excited to finally visit The Mile-High City. Where/what must I absolutely go/visit to enjoy the quintessential "Denver Experience"?

Thanks for the welcome. So, nearly 470 reads & nobody cares to share any detailed info? That's too bad. I've always tried to help people visiting my lovely city. Thanks, anyway :-)

Rani,

The problems you're running into are:

  1. Your OP looked like a typical pre-ad. "Look at me! I'm coming to town."
  2. There have been LOTS of pre-ad threads with information regarding where to stay and where to play. Try the SEARCH feature.
  3. We don't know your interests?
Try these:

  • outdoor activities (casual hiking season is coming to a close, ski season is just starting),
  • cultural events (Denver Art Museum opens a new exhibit on Parisian Impressionist this weekend and currently has a Thomas Moran exhibit, the Denver Center for Performing Arts always has something),
  • shopping (Cherry Creek, Park Meadows, Foothills depending where you park).

BTW: Welcome to Denver.

as a Denver native, i'd say tune into westword.com, the local arts 'n entertainment rag. or rent a car and head west. in an hour, you'll be surrounded by the incredible beauty of the Rocky Mountain front range.

but i can tell you where NOT to waste your time:

a popular restaurant called Casa Bonita on the west side. indoor diving cliff show, seating for thousands and arcade but really lousy food!

the mint (where they make coins) loud factory-like place and not very interesting

Coors brewery tour in Golden - long, boring, smelly and only 2 free beers in their tasting room

Lakewood - a western suburb known for a lack of zoning, cheap motels and a police force that likes to harass hookers.

Perhaps two of the best pieces of advice one can give regarding an ASP visit to Denver. Kudos, urfan!

Welcome to Denver!

If you rent a car, or can get a ride, Red Rocks Amphitheater

near the town of Morrison, is a great place to visit.

Less than 1/2 hr. West of Denver.

Lakewood PD is overzealous in their pursuit of providers.

@BitBanger I get your point about my OP, but I contribute on this board regularly and have for years. If anybody has their shorts in a twist over one little post, they need to get over it :P You'll notice I didn't ask where to stay or what areas to avoid; I already have those two figured out. Thanks for your help.

@urfan Exactly what I was looking for; Appreciate your post.

@Johnboy#1 More insider info is always great.

You'll love it in Denver! I think you've got some good advice already and you're off to a good start. If you like theater you should check out a show downtown. Welcome to the area and enjoy!!
