Thanks for the tips. I had to go through quite a screening to get on those review sites and pay a substantial membership. Never thought about a potential client paying that kind of money and creating the type of fake profile to get on those same review sites.

Let's face it, when you choose a provider, you are making an investment of time and money, so just like picking a good restaurant or a good stock, you have to put time into researching whether the provider might be a good match. To me, dealing with inquiries is just part of doing business. Yes, some waste your time but I have often been surprised when I get a legitimate response and he reports that no other provider responded. The client is often busy himself... so... I am delighted when a client chooses to reach out. It takes no time at all for me to point the potential client to the portion of my website that answers his question. Hang in there!!

Ok.. I am curious. I am a relatively new provider and totally new subscriber to TOB. I see the recommendation to only see a provider with many reviews. That being the case, how do new providers get legitimate reviews? After a couple of years in the business, I finally asked my clients for a review. Just curious what you recommend for new providers in the business. As far as screening prospective clients, I check their background through "Verify Him" and "SafeOffice". I also ask for a social media account to confirm they are who they say they are. If addresses, names, and sometimes phone #'s add up... I consider most clients safe. I also offer a brief call to new clients. That is a way for me to see what their vibe is. I am not as experienced as many of you but I have never had a no show, a no pay, nor have I had anyone try and negotiate price. I imagine if they did, I would just tell them we aren't a good match. I don't take every client that requests my time, either. If I get a bad vibe or their information doesn't align and they don't want to explain discrepancies, I move on to the next client.
